Extra Credit Assignment

The website I picked was PetaPixel. The purpose of the website is to keep readers up to date with the latest photography trends, new technology, and educate readers on the history of photography. The website also has the latest news about photography, tutorials, reviews, and information about photography equipment. The website writes about the latest new trends and what is so popular about them. They also write about new equipment and how to use it to take good photos. Viewers can learn how to use different lenses and read about recent news in the world of photography. Readers can also get inspired by other photographer's works. This would be a good website to add to bookmarks. I could use this website when I need a little inspiration for my photos. I could also use this website when I need to learn how to do something. I also might not because it is easy to get a little confused on the website for me because there are so many links and sections. I would give this website a 3 or a 4 because I like websites that are very organized and clean. It is cool that it has the latest trends to keep you up to date, but you can get lost in all the news. This website has a lot of tutorials and helpful tips for experienced and beginner photographers. 

The website would not let me post any photos, but I liked the photoshoot that a photographer did across New Zealand. The photographer took a two month trip across New Zealand dressed as Gandalf. He wanted a reoccurring subject in his photos. He tried to do it by himself but he had to ask people to dress as Gandalf for him to take the photo. I liked the idea of the same subject in every photo. It make the photo a little more interesting and makes it seem like the subject in traveling from place to place. My favorite photo is of the subject on a boardwalk in front of  sunset. I liked the colors  of the sunset and how they made the subject dark, but you could still tell wha it was.

The Camera

1) The camera obscura effect is an optical effect. You can achieve this effect in a completely dark room using a hole in the wall and a light . The hole acted as a lens when the light was focused and the  outside image was projected upside down on the wall. It was the first camera. 2) Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens got a better understanding of optics, and learned how to make higher quality lenses to make a better camera. 3) In 1827 , Joseph Nicephore Niepce added film to create the first successful photograph. He used a glass lens, a dark box, and a film. 4) Modern cameras still have some of the same features as the old ones. Light still has to pass through the lens and into the camera, and the end result is still a photograph. 5) More modern digital cameras use an electronic sensor called a CCD.
